Opportunity Details | Palenotology Explorer- Crinoids- Flowers of the Ancient Sea
Opportunity Name:
Palenotology Explorer- Crinoids- Flowers of the Ancient Sea |
|
Description:
Crinoids, commonly known as ‘sea lilies’ are among the most beautiful fossils known, when preserved intact. There are widespread in oceans today but are one of the least known echinoderms because they are displayed in aquariums so rarely. Indiana and Kentucky are well-known for well-preserved fossil crinoids. Amateur paleontologist Dale Brown will bring examples from his collection to discuss why good specimens are uncommon and their role in understanding |
