The Kokoda youth foundation is a dedicated and passionate non-profit organisation committed to running experiential youth programs, which help young people gain physical and mental resilience, confidence, and instill in them the values of Courage, Endurance, Mateship and Sacrifice through the story of the Kokoda Campaign in 1942.
The Kokoda Challenge is a signature event that embodies these values and is the main fundrasing avenue for the Kokoda Youth Foundation.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Emergency Control Room Assistant to support our Race Controller during the Kokoda Challenge. In this critical role, you will be responsible for providing essential support in the event of emergencies, ensuring the safety and well-being of participants, volunteers, and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor Communication Systems: Oversee radio communication systems, phones, and other communication tools to stay informed of event updates and respond promptly to emergency situations.
- Coordinate Emergency Responses: Work closely with the Emergency Management Team to coordinate responses to incidents, accidents, or other emergencies that may arise during the event.
- Maintain Documentation: Keep accurate and detailed records of all communications, incidents, and emergency responses for post-event analysis and improvement.
- Provide Information: Serve as a central point of contact for emergency services, event staff, and volunteers, relaying critical information and instructions as needed.
- Support Participants: Assist in tracking the location and status of participants, providing information to emergency services when necessary.
- Collaborate with Event Staff: Work collaboratively with event organisers, security personnel, medical teams, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure a coordinated and effective emergency response.
Qualifications:
- Strong communication skills and ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Previous experience in emergency management or a related field or studying in the field would be preferred
- Familiarity with radio communication systems and emergency protocols.
- Ability to multitask and prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment.
