The Kokoda Youth Foundation is a dedicated and passionate non-profit organisation committed to running experiential youth programs, which help young people gain physical and mental resilience, confidence, and instill in them the values of Courage, Endurance, Mateship and Sacrifice through the story of the Kokoda Campaign in 1942.
The Kokoda Challenge is a signature event that embodies these values and is the main fundrasing avenue for the Kokoda Youth Foundation.
Position Overview:
We are seeking an enthusiastic and organised Volunteers to work in the Merchandise and Information tents to manage the sale of event merchandise and provide essential information to participants and spectators during the Kokoda Challenge. In this role, you will contribute to the overall success of the event by ensuring a seamless merchandise operation and delivering accurate information to enhance the participant experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Merchandise Sales: Setup and manage a merchandise tent, handling the sale of event-related items such as shirts, hats, and other Kokoda Challenge merch
- Cash Handling: Accurately handle cash transactions, provide change, and maintain a secure cash register during merchandise sales. You will also use the square payment system for online and eftpos transactions.
- Participant Information: Serve as a point of contact for participants, providing information about the event schedule, routes, and any last-minute updates.
- Inventory Management: Monitor merchandise inventory, restock items as needed, and keep track of sales to ensure proper accounting.
- Customer Service: Assist participants and spectators with enquiries, offering a friendly and helpful presence at the merchandise and information booth.
- Coordinate with Event Staff: Collaborate with event organisers and staff to address any issues, changes, or special requests related to merchandise and information.
Qualifications:
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Basic math skills for cash handling and inventory management.
- Organized and detail-oriented with the ability to multitask.
- Positive attitude and willingness to assist participants and event attendees.
