CNB (Community Needs Bank)-including food pantry volunteers

 

We have two types of opportunities in CNB:

 

  1. One & done/as-needed. If interested in being contacted when we need help an any given day, especially when we have big donations to unload, weigh, check for expirations, and shelve, sign-up below.
  2. Trained to help in CNB on any day leading up to our delivery days, which are usually every Wednesday & Friday, please sign-up below.
    • To help as needed to replace a regular weekly volunteer who is out
    • To be added to volunteers who are here on a regular basis, which means a weekly commitment.
    • Below are some of the responsibilities of volunteers in CNB. 

 

Responsibilities listed below vary depending on day, time and needs of CNB.

  • Prepare bags/boxes of food requested on the Food Order Form for each food recipient.
  • Contact food recipients to go over their orders, delivery days and times.
  • Load cars picking up deliveries.
  • Monitor sign-up for open deliveries and communicate on WhatsApp group if more drivers are needed for open deliveries and to respond to any driver issues
  • Update SignUp Genius with deliveries for week, update WhatsApp group with signup links.
  • Using Excel spreadsheet, update food recipient list with the volunteer driver’s names for each delivery
  • Prep for next day’s food deliveries
  • Unload food donations from cars
  • Weigh donations
  • Sort non-perishable food donations, check expiration dates, and stock shelves
  • Inventory; take note of what items are low or high in stock and report to supervisor
  • Record weight of incoming donations and outgoing deliveries in log book.
  • Make deliveries as needed.
  • Contact Food Pantries to go over their orders and deliveries to them
  • Prepare orders going to local Food Pantries.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
  • Ability to bend, lift and carry.

Abilities and Skills:

  • Ability to use WhatsApp, SignupGenius, and Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to communicate over the telephone and in person
  • Ability to demonstrate compassion and respect for our CNB recipients who are receiving food
  • Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
